Scott Buchanan has been enhancing the beauty and wellness of New York City for 26 years, under his salon brand, “Scott J. Aveda Salons.”

His personal road to success began in 1980 as an assistant stylist in Manhasset, NY. After ten years, he moved to New York City where the vision of owning his own salon began. The first Scott J. salon was an intimate 400 square foot, five chair salon on Columbus Avenue. By the first anniversary, they had outgrown the space. Fortunately, another space became available, year after year. Now, that first Scott J. salon has grown to a 2,400 square foot, multilevel oasis on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. And the Scott J. brand has expanded into four other neighborhoods: Upper East Side, Morningside Heights, Soho, and Brooklyn Heights.

In addition to having four salons, Scott works as a global educator for Aveda Corporation, teaching better business practices to other salon owners and managers.

Scott has always sought to give back to the industry that brought so much joy and prosperity to him. As President of The Professional Beauty Association, Scott truly shares the PBA’s purpose of advancing the professional beauty industry by providing its members with business tools , government advocacy , education , networking , events and more to ensure business and career success with integrity.
